What you need to know about Kayaking - "How to" Skills, Drills and Tour!

Groups of 8 paddlers and 2 instructors.


Mandatory Roster Requirements


1) All registrants are required to sign the waiver.


2) Day of class wellness checks “COVID-19 Self Screening” must be completed by all participants prior to participation.

3) Participants must maintain physical distancing of 2-meters before, during and after all activities.  This includes arriving on-site, participating in the activity, resting/sitting on the sidelines, and departing the activity.

4) No Spectators are allowed under any circumstance (this includes kids and pets).



All Kayak equipment (sea kayak, paddle, spray skirt, life jacket and safety equipment) is provided, however East Coast Outfitters strongly encourages you to bring your own equipment if you have it (to reduce the possibility of contamination and reduce the transmission of any viruses).

What you should bring: 

  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Water
  • Sunglasses with strap
  • Shoes that can get wet (old tennis shoes, sport sandals, etc.)
  • Clothing: Avoid cotton (jeans, etc), wear quick-dry (synthetic) material, fleece, yoga clothes, etc.
  • Extra fleece/windbreaker to change into
  • Wet-suit if we are planning to do rescues and re-entries
  • Snack 
  • Refillable water bottle

All Equipment that you borrow for the class has been thoroughly cleaned before you use.  


There are no rules for Kayaking - just have fun and enjoy the water!


All Kayaking "How to" Skills, Drills and Tour will leave from Lower Prospect.
Approximately 25 minutes outside Halifax.
