Softball

 

Hit a home run in HSSC’s Softball Leagues this Sprummer!  Play up to 4 nights a week in recreational and intermediate levels of play.

Sprummer 2020 Details:

Start / End Dates

TUESDAY: Starts Tuesday, June 2 and ends on Tuesday, September 8.

WEDNESDAY: Starts Wednesday, June 3 and ends on Wednesday, September 9.

THURSDAY: Starts Thursday, June 4 and ends on Thursday, September 10.

FRIDAY: Starts Friday, June 5 and ends on Friday, September 11.

# of Weeks

Tuesday / Thursday / Friday:  15 weeks (13 week regular season + 2 weeks of playoffs).

Wednesday:  14 weeks (12 week regular season + 2 weeks of playoffs).

Estimated Game Times

Game length is 75 minutes.

Tuesday to Friday: Start times ranging from 6:00pm to 9:45pm.

Please note: HSSC makes every effort to ensure all teams receive an even mix of game times.  In the event games are rescheduled, weekend and off-night games may be played.  

Sunset Time Adjustment:  During the final few weeks of the season, days get shorter and HSSC games will be shifted earlier to accommodate.

Price Tuesday or Thursday Team: $830 + HST. 
Wednesday or Friday Team: $775 + HST.

After checkout, send your teammates roster invites through the website (under "My Team" player list) so they can accept the waiver and access the schedule and standings once it is posted.   

Tuesday or Thursday Individual: $125 + HST. 
Wednesday or Friday Individual$120 + HST.

You will be placed on a roster of individuals by end of day Tuesday, May 26.  For ease of communication with our office, teams must select a captain and co-captain on our website to represent your individuals team.

Team equipment pick-up

Meet the HSSC office staff while picking up your team newsletter, key tags and equipment!  If you have any questions about your league, schedule, etc. we’ll be ready to answer them!

 

Where? Metro Self Storage (2618 Clifton Street, Halifax).  
 

When?

  • Saturday, May 30 from 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Sunday, May 31 from 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Monday, June 1 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Your team newsletter includes detailed information about the league and your HSSC key tags provide you with excellent deals from our HSSC Partners

Individual registrants: After Tuesday, May 26, we ask individual players contact their teammates through our website (you can log in, click on "My Team", then "Player List") to confirm who will be responsible for picking up your equipment & team package.

What you need to know about Softball:

# of players on field

9 players (minimum 3 males and 3 females)

Suggested roster/individuals roster size

10-12 players. 

Equipment

Teams are responsible for bringing to each game:

  • A set of 4 bases
  • 4 batting helmets
  • 3 Softballs
  • 2 pylons (when required – see Registration page) 
  • 1 catcher's mask
  • 1 scorebook

A catcher’s mask, softballs, pylons and base sets are available to rent from HSSC for a $75 refundable deposit.

 

This can be done at the time of your league registration and in your shopping cart.
(see dates for team package & equipment pick-up).

 

Batters and Base Runners are required to wear a helmet (mandatory). Helmets are the responsibility of each team to provide. 


All teams must have a minimum of 4 helmets (one for the batter and 3 for potential base runners).

Additional league information

All teams receive:

Rules

Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.

Score & Spirit Point Reporting

  • Game Scores (account for 75% of total points): Team captains are responsible for reporting the scores after your game by logging into your player profile and clicking on ‘My Team’ tab and selecting ‘Report Score/Spirit Points’.  Teams have a 48 hour window to report scores after the completion of the game.  Please be timely with your score reporting so league standings can remain updated for playoff positioning.
  • Spirit Points (account for 25% of total points): Spirit points are awarded to a team from their opponent after each game to encourage sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and fair play.  For more information and how to properly award spirit points, please see our section ‘All About Spirit Points’.

All games will be played within 25km of the downtown core.
